Runway 8R/26L Pavement Replacement

    Owner: City of Atlanta
    Client: Atlanta Airport
    Market: Airport Infrastructure
Areas of Expertise: Concrete Work, Spall Repair

    Duration: 2 months

    Total Value: Under US$500,000

Contract Date:7/1/2006

This project consisted of the construction of a 4000 linear feet of non-licensed vehicle road on the 5th runway at Hartsfield - Jackson International Airport, Atlanta GA. The scope of work included the removal of vegetation and grading for the road. Furthermore, sewer lines and storm sewers were installed. Finally the road was built out of asphalt. This project was considerably complex, as debris needed to be control in order to avoid jet engines to be damaged. Moreover, working inside the airport has to be done with constant coordination with the Airport's operation in order to avoid any disruption to its normal operation. Security coordination is key when working at the airport as all work needs to be performed in compliance with all security measures established by the Airport in order to avoid a possible security breach.
